B: I did, but he gives me a runaround.
我谈过了，但是他总是兜圈子。
A: If I were you, I would put the whole matter on the table.
要是我的话，我就把事情摆在桌面上来谈。
B: But he was trying to beat about the bush. And my talk with him was fruitless.
但是他总是避而不谈，我们的谈话一点用也没有。
